Archery and Arnis

The Kids decided they wanted to learn Archery and Arnis, in which, lessons were given for free in their school. Both were excited as Week 17 approaches. On the first day, Naim backed out and opted to stay at home to play games on the PC. Only Pia was interested enough to go to school.

We were there earlier than 8 o'clock, for registration.
There were only a handful of Kids who wanted to join the training, and all of them wanted to sign up for Archery. Now, Pia wanted to sign up for it, with nobody left to train for Arnis! This happened so fast, I ended up being the only student of Arnis.

On the second day, I asked Naim to come with us, telling him how Pia shot 2 arrows close to each other. Hmmm, that got him interested enough! When we got there, I gathered all Archery students and told them to join Arnis. The plan was to have Arnis training from 8-10:00 and Archery class will follow. The Kids were happy with this, coz now they get to learn 2 instead of just one. I also noticed the group has grown, from 5 Kids to now, 16. We now lacked rattan sticks to use and I had to give up mine.

The Kids breezed through with both their trainings, and made a few close friends towards the end of the week. The Arnis coach also saw potential for my son during his second day of class, and as we asked for a special training, he gladly took my son under his wing. So that aside from the morning classes, we also go to the coach's school to have my son train with him for 1.5 - 2 hours - for FREE! Naim's really having the time of his life!

McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop

Week 16 (April 15 - 19, 2013) was a week of fun and learning for the Kids {and mommies}, who registered in McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop.

We started with a facility tour, and for the first time, saw what McDonald's was like from behind those counters. The Kiddos then were taught the basics: welcoming/greeting a customer, cup sizes and how to fill them up, cleaning the dining area, how to properly wash their hands... and the values of hardwork, teamwork, discipline and responsibility.

They painted their own aprons ... made their cheeseburgers (and the favorite part, eating them, of course!)
They sang the Kiddie Crew Anthem and danced the Ronald dance...
I think, what they love the most was when they assisted the service crew, and got assigned at the counter, drive thru area, ice cream station or even at the lobby - cleaning tables and handing stickers to kid customers.

Cheeseburger-making, and eating them afterwards!

Their whole week in a Collage.
My 7 y.o. daughter, Sophia, and her friend, Meri Lane, are first-timers to the workshop - and everyday for the past week, Sophia has been so eager. She's even asked me if she can really work there once they are finished with the workshop. Awwww... :(  told her no, because she's too young for this kind of job. It's a good start though, that she learned those values which can be applied at home and in school. She's so into it and was surprised when she volunteered to do an intermission number with her friend, during the Recognition Day.

As for my son, Bjorn, this is the second time for him, which made him lead their batch. For this, he earned the Kiddie Crew of the Week Award - and was asked to speak in front of 38 Kiddie Crew and parents. It was only a short speech, but it has made me so proud. Both of them made me so proud! I see that both of them can step up, when they really want to (and yes, I encourage them to do so :D ...)

Well, we have approximately 7 more weeks before summer ends and that means, still more time to have lots of fun and learn something at the same time. :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Bubbles Akhykou

Our normal, grown up lives have been infused with fun, excitement and youth in the past 2 weeks.
Thanks to Bubbles Akhykou!
Akiko, as I fondly call her, is my nephew's (my first cousin's son's) daughter.
And so technically, she's my granddaughter.
[Yes, call me old woman. I don't mind at all ...]

Akiko,
the first time she got here, was crying a lot.
We were then strangers, and she was in an unfamiliar territory.
oh my, it must have been so stressful for the baby.
But as the days passed, she got to know us a lot better and started to trust us.
I carry her more often and take strolls outside the house now.
It's so much fun!
And yes, I missed how sweet a baby smells, its laughter and cries ...
with my youngest child going to be 8 years old this July.

Akiko,
she's refreshing!
Yet nothing lasts forever.
Yesterday, her mother finished her internship in the city and they had to head back for home.
It's sad, and I am starting to miss the little girl.
On the other hand, I am glad to have made her a dress and a beanie as gift for her 1st birthday, which is today.

We may not be there to celebrate your special day, but you are in our hearts, little Akiko!
Akiko, with the spring-inspired dress and beanie that I made for her.

Happy Birthday!
May you grow up to be a good and happy girl.

Summer Fun

It's S-U-M-M-E-R time!
And all the Kids want to do would be to have F-U-N.

I have tried to get ready with my 101 to-do things with the Kids this Summer.
(See list, which I got somewhere from Pinterest. Oh, there's a link for it at the bottom of the list.)

We've done at least five of those, so far.  :D
But since it is soooooo H-O-T, they always end up inside their old kiddie pool.

And they've taught little Aikiko (my cousin's granddaughter) water-bending too!
It's so much fun, seeing them having fun!

Thanks for stopping by.
Wish you all have a great Summer.

Happy Easter!

Such a lovely day!
The Kids and I woke up, earlier than usual. I guess, everyone is excited to celebrate Easter.

We all started with ... egg-hunting, of course!
The Kids looked up, down, over, under, everywhere. :D
you just can see the rush of finding the most number of eggs.
I got caught up with all the fun and excitement that I now realize I have not taken a single pic for this activity :(

Oh, and since they knew there were only 12 hidden eggs, Naim stopped looking when he got his 6th egg and left the rest of the eggs for his sister to find. Isn't that sweet? So when he said he wanted to make something out of the boiled eggs, I can only say yes.

This is what he made...
He saw it from one of my pinned pics in Pinterest, and immediately wanted to make one for himself.
Cute ...

The rest of the day was spent with lots of food, laughter, karaoke and movie marathon.

Ahhhh, such a lovely day!
Thanks for stopping by.
